week 10

Haha this week was wild!!!! I had my last classes for Japanese which was really sad! I am going to miss my district so much, they were all the best. We were able to have almost every lesson this week IN PERSON. So epic. But Jesiah who we had been teaching just texted us joking about how he wishes he could be baptized this week so that it could happen before Sister Hughes left, and we were like ughhhh we wish too but it probably wont happen. ( He was on date for May 30th)
But we sent a screen shot of his texts to our district gc. and like withing 5 min both our DL and Zls called us, and were like he 100% can be baptized this week. So we called president and he gave us the go to get him DUNKED. SOOOO we had to plan this baptism in like 2 days. life was so crazy. We could only have about 8 people there and everyone had to be social distanced so it was wild.
It was cool to see him be baptized bc we both had been teaching him since the beginning. I WAS A BRAND SPANKING NEW MISSIONARY. I just learned very clearly, that I am not the teacher and that is all the spirits work for sure!

Week 9

みなさんこんにちは!

This week has been pretty much the same, I do Japanese most of the day and then teach a couple lessons throughout the night.
We have been teaching Jesiah about 2 a week and he is getting baptized in like 2 weeks and he is beyond thrilled! He always has a funny story to tell us. He sees almost everything as a sign from God and its pretty cool to see the small miracles through his eyes.
Arianna is a girl we have been teaching about 2 a week as well and she had no Christian background whatsoever! its been cool and I felt like she was set in my path to prepare me for the people of Japan :) She is progressing really well but we gotta just take the lessons real slow.
Amanda is the last person we are teaching rn and she was taught by some elders in our mission like three times a week since quarantine and they just recently referred her to us. We had a couple passoff lessons and then our first lesson we did with her was a little rough bc she liked the elders. BUT we has a lesson with her on Saturday and we really just let the spirit guide it and she told us that out of all the lessons we have had so far, this was her favorite! so good to hear!
hehe Sister Hughes and I did a devotional for our whole mission (ちょとむざかしですね) but right before president call us. We are thinking that he is like double checking that we were prepared. BUT he told Sister Hughes that she was going back to Nauvoo! *(she is a church history missionary and this is her outbound mission!)
HOPEFULLY THAT MEANS I AM GOING TO JAPAN SOON! President told me that he thinks I will go this summer and that he is waiting everyday fro good news for me.
Thats really all I have from this week tbh.

week 8

Haha this week was the most average! Just had Japanese all day, and then taught some people. I met like three new tutors this week bc things have been wild, I am starting to actually teach in Japanese though which is pretty cool.
We still have Jesiah on date, and he is ecstatic to get baptized. He told us that he can't wait to start work again so he can pay tithing.
We started teaching this girl who has absolutely no christian background. It's been a cool experience for me to practice teaching someone like that for when Im actually in Tokyo.
We have one other girl who some elders have been teaching since the beginning of quarantine, They haven't asked her to be baptized because they didn't know which ward she would be put in, but its our ward! so i will see maybe 3 baptisms while im here!!!

The weather here lately is GORGEOUS! like 80-90 degrees always. straight amazing.
I have been really sad thinking about not going to Japan lately too. HAHAH I really want to go.... :( I really do love Vegas but I wanna be in Tokyo lol.

I put a pic of my desk because i spend most of my time throughout the day there its kinda cute or whateva
Things are good tho!

week 6

皆さん こんにちわ!WE SET A GUY ON DATE TO BE BAPTIZED! I am so excited for him and he is ready the minute this all ends. The last week has been the same as any week. Still do Japanese most of the day and then teach a couple lessons at night. My Japanese is getting so much better! Is crazy the gift of tongues is so real it's ridiculous, even if I dont make it to Japan there is a reason I'm learning so fast!  This week we found out that our apartment might have black mold. So it was fun to bleach our our whole apartment.

We switched our car like three times this week and we had a really swanky brand new car for a couple days. It was sad to give that away.

Nick and Sueann got engaged so shout out to them! Cant wait to not be at the wedding!

Haha the Elders in my district starting learning Japanese for me but the chalk board DID NOT say what they thought it did HAHA!

the pig is Madsen 長老 her name is melee:)
Mission life is wild!

Week 5

こんいちわ!!
I love spring ! When we go for runs in the morning we see all these little ducklings and it's the cutest you could ever imagine. I pretty much go for runs in the morning and then go to Japanese and study all day and then at about 5:00 we will teach a lesson or read with some seminary kids. It's a routine life as a missionary rn. It's cool though we see miracles really everyday!
One day we went and drew all over the sidewalks of our apartment complex and we actually got to talk to lots of families and people about what our message is. It was super cool! So many people are open to the gospel here.
Its starting to get real warm here in Vegas and I'm so happy I go and lay in the sun during our lunch hour and it's amazing!
I really do love learning Japanese! Its addicting honestly. Once I start I cant stop haha so I usually do all 4-5 of my hours straight. Haha my companion says I speak Japanese in my sleep almost every night.
That's really all I do right now. I am doing a little bit better with adjusting but it's all chaos so...... べんきょしはむずかしです。

Week 4

こんいちわ!
I started my Japanese class this week! It was very nice to see my teachers and my district from the MTC again even if it was just online. I miss those guys a lot haha. It's been a struggle trying to juggle studying AND teaching. I'm just kind of in the weirdest situation. My gift of tongues hasn't stopped though I will tell you that. Although I am not in class as much, when I do have class everything makes sense and I'm actually able to remember it. たくさん日本語。

Lol I'm lowkey not having the time of my life, but we pushing forward. It's been rough, but we living.

All the missionaries here are really nice and think that us japanese missionaries that are here for a little are super cool so that's fun.

But conference was so great! Elder Renlund's I think was my absolute favorite! He talked about how gifts like blessings are only from God and that we should never forget the compassion and love behind those gifts. But what I got was spiritual gifts! That having the gift of exceeding faith during a CRAZY MISSION, will make it possible:) AND the gift of tongues! Haha I keep trying to remind myself that there is a reason why I'm learning japanese so fast! Because its east to feel like I'm never going to actually make it there sometimes. But yes that talk really hit me hard! I been really trying to study hard both my language and teaching bc I wasn't really taught how to teach before leaving the MTC so IT'S A LOT of reading.

Ok I'm done complaining and I do love it here so don't worry! I already have some tan lines!

Week 3

こんにちわ!
Just when I thought mission life could not get crazier, we got the announcement that the MTC was getting evacuated. That's when things got CRAZY. The next day a bunch of people got their flight plans for Tuesday morning so I spent my remaining days in the MTC up all night helping people pack and getting up early in the morning to drop them off at the travel office. One of the elders in my district only got a 30 minute notice to leave haha. I was just happy I was given a couple days notice.

I left Friday morning and only really knew my flight plans and not really where I was going but it was cool when I walked out of the terminal and saw Elder Lewis and Elder Reeves! It was nice to see familiar faces at a crazy time.
I got assigned to the Las Vegas West mission!  Cool fact, the wife of my mission president is the sister to the wife of my Tokyo mission president!

I got to teach a lesson my first day here.  It was my companion (Sister Hughes) friend. Because I was only studying Japanese in the MTC we hadn't really been taught how to teach. I was expecting 8 more weeks of training for that. But it was good! It was cool to also see how at home church is going now too! Sister Hughes has been so patient with all my questions haha. I've been teaching her a little Japanese too!
LIFE HAS BEEN CRAZY AND HECTIC

I somehow have felt a lot of peace during a time of such chaos. I know that it's because in doing what in supposed to be doing. MY JAPANESE IS COMING, SLOWLY BUT ITS COMING. THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS SO REAL. I also have so much faith that I will make it Tokyo! God doesn't give spiritual gifts that we don't need. I cant wait to go teach in Japanese! Keep the faith and listen to conference!

Also my companion said I was speaking Japanese in my sleep instead of my usual English jibberish.
